Are you Turning 65 soon? Watch this video. Medicare 101

There are two ways to get your Part D drug coverage. You can purchase a standalone drug plan from a private insurance company or choose a Part C Medicare Advantage plan offering drug coverage.

Suppose you go without Part D for any 63-day continuous period. In that case, you will be penalized for every month you go without coverage unless you have other creditable drug coverage from an employer or the VA.

Part D plans will not cover 100% of all your medication costs. There may be deductibles and copayments, which will be your responsibility.

Be sure to look at each company’s formulary, which is a list of covered drugs and their costs.

Do not blindly pick the lowest-priced Part D drug plan. They may not cover your current medications.
