We are just around the corner for the next open enrollment period which runs from October 15 – December 7, 2014. What does this mean for you and your Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C) or Part D prescription drug plan?
First things first, if you are happy with your current Medicare Advantage plan or Part D prescription drug plan and you do not want to change it, chances are you don’t have to. Unless your plan is being cancelled for next year and you are happy with your plan, don’t change anything and your plan will stay where it is.
For many people, they are not happy with their current plan or just wish to try out a different plan that may have lower out of pocket expenses or have a bigger network of doctors. You are not alone. Here at Sun Coast Legacy Advisors we have access to every Medicare Advantage (part C) Plan available in Central Florida and nearly all of the Part D drug plans. We can talk to you about your current plan and find out what you are looking for in your potential new plan. Your new plan will start January 1, 2015.
Once December 7, 2014 passes us by, you most likely can’t choose another plan until next year’s Medicare Open Enrollment. So don’t be afraid to start looking early and choose a plan and remember, if you choose a plan and realize that’s not the plan you want, you can change plans as often as you want before December 8. At that point, that will be your plan.
